Team Project 2022-23: The Juvenile Justice Initiative is set to begin in the 2022-2023 academic year. The Initiative will assist researchers at Mississippi State University’s Social Science Research Center (SSRC) in their examination of juvenile justice practices in Mississippi. SSRC is working to develop a risk assessment tool that will help Youth Court Judges make diversion determinations and decrease the formal processing of children who are unlikely to reoffend. The Initiative will provide research support to the SSRC team by conducting a policy scan of other diversion tools across the country and translating these findings into one-pagers and other communication materials.
