Sam Koolaq

Sam Koolaq joined the Transactional Law Clinics of Harvard Law School as a Clinical Instructor in 2020. In addition to his work as a Clinical Instructor with TLC, Sam serves as the Director of the Entertainment Law Clinic and the Recording Artists Project (RAP). Beginning in the Spring semester of 2024, Sam will also be appointed as a Lecturer, to teach a course he has designed on music contract drafting and negotiations.

Prior to joining the faculty at Harvard Law, Sam founded his own legal practice in Los Angeles, California. In his private practice, Sam provides a range of different legal services, primarily to creative industry individuals and their businesses. Over the years, Sam has developed an expertise in music, copyright/trademark, and general business law. He has also worked with a number of civil rights organizations, including the ACLU and the National Lawyers Guild.

Sam received his B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley, and his J.D. from Harvard Law School.
