About

HLS Advocates for Human Rights (“Advocates”) is a student practice organization dedicated to human rights work and advocacy on campus and beyond.  Advocates is comprised of Harvard Law School students who are interested in human rights work and advocacy.  The organization gives students who are interested in human rights an opportunity to participate in human rights-related projects and to become a part of Harvard Law School’s human rights community.

What Does Advocates Do?

We have four main areas of focus:

1. We work with human rights practitioners and NGOs from around the world on student-led projects, through which our members conduct research and engage in human rights advocacy.

2. We promote awareness of human rights issues on campus by collaborating with other student organizations on events and engaging in student activism at Harvard Law School.

3. We organize training sessions and career advising programs to connect students with tools to become effective advocates in their fields.

4. We seek to foster a strong human rights-oriented community at HLS.
