We, the Harvard Law School Advocates for Human Rig We, the Harvard Law School Advocates for Human Rights, express our disappointment and condemn the alleged denial of the Carr Center for Human Rights Policy Fellowship at Harvard Kennedy School to the former Executive Director of Human Rights Watch, Kenneth Roth, over criticism of Israel’s human rights abuses.

We are excited to co-host a screening of "3 Uyghu We are excited to co-host a screening of "3 Uyghur Women", a brief documentary film about Uyghur refugees in the Boston area who evaded genocide in their native Xinjiang (a region within China). The film's creator, Avanti Nambiar, and (hopefully) some of the film's subjects will be available for a brief Q&A following the screening. The screening will take place on Friday, November 18th from 12:15 PM - 1:30 PM at Hauser 102. Food from Silk Road Uyghur Cuisine will be served!

Please join us this Wednesday for a conversation w Please join us this Wednesday for a conversation with Yauheni Pylchanka, a Belarusian lawyer disbarred for representing a presidential candidate who challenged Alexander Lukashenko's over 25 year reign, and Vladislava Chalei, a Boston-based Belarusian human rights activist. Yauheni and Vladislava will chat with us about the democracy movement in Belarus, the impact of the war in Ukraine, and what it means to stand up for human rights at great personal risk. Participants will have the opportunity to write postcards to lawyers who are currently imprisoned in Belarus.

Tomorrow with Advocates: a conversation with Arsal Tomorrow with Advocates: a conversation with Arsalan Suleman JD '07, former Acting Special Envoy to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), who is helping to lead Gambia's ICJ suit against Myanmar for the Rohingya genocide. He will talk to us about how he got involved in the Gambia case, what it  means for the Rohingya, and how it has transformed international law.

This Sunday, Advocates hosting is a Transitional J This Sunday, Advocates hosting is a Transitional Justice workshop with Sarah McIntosh of the Simon-Skjodt Center for the Prevention of Genocide at the US Holocaust Memorial Museum. The workshop will focus on non-criminal and post-criminal strategies to empower survivors and seek justice in the wake of mass atrocities. We will learn about Transitional Justice responses to the Holocaust beyond Nuremburg and work in teams to apply Transitional Justice insights to current tragedies like war crimes in Ukraine and gender-based violence.
