Why should you get involved with the Harvard Mississippi Delta Project?

  • Great opportunity to support projects in Mississippi
  • MDP has an entrepreneurial spirit and innovative approach to public service
  • Pro bono credit
  • Potential opportunities to travel to Mississippi
  • MDP is the only SPO that does substantial policy work

Students who join will choose a project interest. Projects are led by other students who have been affiliated with the Delta Project for at least one semester and have shown leadership skills and interest. Projects are ultimately supervised by Emily Broad Leib ’08 and Emma Scott ’16, clinical instructors at the Harvard Law School Food Law and Policy Clinic (FLPC).

Any HLS student is eligible to join the Harvard Delta Project and work on projects for pro bono credit. Students may also sign up for clinical projects in the Delta through independent clinical credits.

Our application for the Spring 2023 semester is open and available here. All applications are due by 11:59pm EST on January 29th.

Once assigned to a project, you must commit to performing a certain amount of work throughout the semester. You will also be asked to be in regular communication with the other team members on your project and with your team leader. If you are not placed on a project immediately, we will keep you on our mailing list so you can learn about future opportunities with the Delta Project.
