Shot over three years, this high-definition documentary film tells the story of five transgender women housed in men’s prisons as they face rape, violence, solitary confinement and denial of medical care. It challenges the viewer’s basic ideas about gender and justice through braids of poignantly graphic stories, vibrant landscape portraits and stark prison footage from across the United States.
