On May 24, 2011, the Emmett Environmental Law and Policy Clinic released “An Ohio Landowner’s Guide to Hydraulic Fracturing.” This guide is intended to help landowners who are approached by a natural gas company to negotiate a lease for the right to extract natural gas by hydraulic fracturing from their property. It includes suggestions for provisions to include in the lease to protect the health, property, and environment of the landowner from the potential impacts of hydraulic fracturing. Clinic students Joshua Herlands (JD ’12) and Humu-Annie Seini (LLM ’11), as well as Clinical Instructor Shaun Goho and Clinical Fellow Justin DuClos, participated in drafting the guide.
